Ordering Information
How to Order
You can order any item by email, phone, mail or fax, and a limited number of items online using a secure website. I prefer to consult with customers about instruments and do not offer them for direct order on the website.
To contact me, email jimmcg@piping.on.ca or phone 905-727-5553. I check my e-mail on an ongoing basis by computer or my handheld device each day no matter where I am in the world, so email is by far the best way to reach me.
Payment Methods
I currently accept Visa and Mastercard, as well as cash, cheques and money orders in Canadian dollars. I will soon accept PayPal. I am happy to wait for cheques or money orders to reach me, but I’m afraid I cannot ship items until payment is received.
All prices are in Canadian dollars. If you live outside of Canada, you are charged Canadian dollars and the total is converted to your local currency by your credit card company. The invoice shows the Canadian amount, and your credit card statement shows the amount in your currency. You can check this amount against other currencies using this site, which is usually within 3-4 percent or so of being right: http://www.xe.com.
Payment in full is due at the time your order is shipped. Special order bagpipes require a deposit at the time the order is placed.
Canadian Taxes
Canadian residents must add GST. Ontario residents must add PST. Canadian HST is charged to Maritime provinces where applicable. US and International customers are not subject to any Canadian taxes.
Shipping Information
I ship almost all items by Canada Post. More expensive or delicate items go by Canada Post ExpressPost. I find this method to be the fastest, most reliable, and most economical shipping method. I believe the Canadian and U.S. postal services do great work and have a bad rap they do not deserve.
The average cost of a bagpipe shipment by FedEx to any North American location is between $65 and $250 Cdn, depending on the insurance required. Please discuss this with me when you place your order.
Delivery Time
I process orders as promptly as possible, and they are shipped as soon as the instrument has been thoroughly checked, reeded, tested and tuned.
Most sets of pipes are custom ordered and require a brief waiting time. I will inform you of the approximate waiting time when you order.
I can ship by courier if asked, but this requires that I drop everything and make a special trip to the courier depot, so these costs are factored into the shipping cost.
Returns and Guarantee
I want you to be happy with your purchase. If you are not satisfied, please email or call me to discuss the situation. I generally accept returns within 30 days for a full refund (less shipping costs), as long as the items are still in new condition and are returned in the original product packaging.
Bagpipes and chanters are guaranteed for 2 years after the time of purchase against cracking resulting from normal usage and care. Returned items will be assessed upon return.
Please contact me before returning items in case special instructions are required. Packages coming into Canada need to be marked as “product being returned for refund” or I'll be charged taxes and sometimes duty to take your item back. Packages requiring duty when they arrive because they have not been correctly labeled will not be accepted.
The truth is, very, very few of my customers ever need to return anything, other than a reed or two here and there.
Duty for International Customers
Many US customers are concerned about taxes and duty. All items made in North America ship tax and duty free to US customers as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement. |
