Sinclair chanter, circa 1970s, ivory sole, uncarved

Though the ivory sole appears well worn with spider lines, this blackwood Sinclair chanter is in superb shape. The holes are uncarved, and the stick remains gun-barrel straight.  The pitch of the chanter came in at 468-474 with a Chesney reed out of the box. That and the sole suggest the chanter was made in the 1960s or early 70s. The pitch may be flat compared to today, but the notes on this chanter are still true.
