Sinclair Pipe Chanter, Silver Sole

The age of this Sinclair chanter is difficult to determine, but it could be as early as the 1950s. The silver sole has an R. G. Lawrie hallmark of 1925-26, well before the Sinclair company started in 1933, so the sole is not original to the chanter. The chanter is uncarved and there is wear on the low A hole from countless birls. The pitch is low but the chanter plays true, with a bit of sharpness on high G.
