The hugely popular Airstream mouthpiece comes standard on any Airstream blowpipe. It has a very large bore so as not to restrict air flow. The oval shape and rubber grip make it easy to hold in your mouth. It will fit most standard blowpipes, though in some cases you may need to add a bit of hemp to the threading on your blowpipe. The Airstream mouthpiece comes in three sizes: 3.5″, 4.5″ and 5.5″.

Sometimes you need to change your mouthpiece. Yours may have worn out or become unsightly, or you may wish to alter the length of your blowpipe with a mouthpiece of a different length. These mouthpieces are made of extremely durable polypenco, and the small end external diameter makes them easy on the muscles of the lips. The bore is non-restrictive. They come of five sizes: 2 1/2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″.

While these rubber mouthpiece protectors are made specifically for Airstream mouthpieces, they will fit snugly onto any mouthpiece using a bit of lubricant. They make it easier to grip your mouthpiece firmly between the teeth and many players find them extremely comfortable to play. Each pack contains two mouthpiece protectors, shown here between two typical mouthpieces.

This combination valve/watertrap installs into the blowpipe stock easily using a tool provided. The valve negates the need for a clacker valve on your blowpipe. The device also stops moisture from dribbling into the bag. Remove your blowstick and dump it out when you’re finished playing. It’s not as effective as a tube trap or a desiccant system, but for the casual player it’s convenient and all they need for moisture control. Drone stock shown in the picture is not included.

Over the decades I’ve played every kind of blowpipe valve invented. While those that insert into the blowpipe stock or are built into the plastic stick are excellent, those that plug into the end of the blowstick can be terribly restrictive of air flow into the bagpipe, making the pipes harder to blow. I constantly come back to the original“flapper” valve. Now made out of rubber (rather than leather), these are maintenance-free, last for years and in no way restrict air flow.  I find them well worth the effort of hemping on to the blowstick. When you do so, make sure the valve sits perfectly flat on the end of the blowstick before you hemp it.
